Broadway and Horton 2nd XI 177-5 Wellington 3rd XI 102
After winning the toss and electing to field in this Somerset League Division Seven South game Wellington 3rd XI held sway for the first 30 overs of the Broadway and Horton 2nd XI innings as they kept the home side to 78-5 with wickets for Ryan Henwood, Tyler Fyfe, Alex Derbridge, Ben Marsh and Andy Hurry as good catching and ground fielding backed up these efforts.
But with Knight and Tucker each hitting 51no each the Red and Blacks third string shipped 99 runs in the last ten overs as B and H took charge.
Richard Henwood was accurate as always with 0-14 in eight overs.
In Driskel B and H has an accurate and disciplined performer and his analysis of 3-6 in eight overs was exemplary and he sent Wellington crashing to 6-3.
Sam Nelson with 18 performed a rescue act to get Wellington’s score into the 30s, but another dip took the side to 45-9 and there was a lot of time left.
Skipper Des Campbell and Richard Henwood, resuming his innings after taking a knock on the hand, played with spirit and robustness as they added 57 for the last wicket with Campbell reverse sweeping his way to 34 and Henwood making 13no as B and H were kept in the field for a lot longer than they had planned to be.
Knight with 4-17 in eight overs completed a good day for him as B and H 2nd XI took 33 points to Wellington’s 10.
