Bridgwater 81-3 Wellington 82-4

Wellington are second in Division A of the Somerset Cricket Board Indoor League after this close and narrow two wicket win over Bridgwater last Sunday evening when the Red and Blacks won by two wickets with three balls to spare.

Choosing to bowl first Wellington saw off Bridgwater’s openers Butt and Keith for single figure scores as Ian Hewson leapt well to take a caught and bowled to remove Butt and Arron Campbell made Keith play on.

Hewson’s three overs cost just ten runs and with Will Derrick and Ryan Adams backing this effort up as well as two wickets from skipper Campbell Wellington were in the ascendancy.

Bridgwater had made a low total of 81-3 in their 12 overs with Salt and Locke gaining some good impetus late on to get them to this level.

Arron Campbell and Luke Desave opened for Wellington and had 25 on the board before Campbell was run out for nine.

Desave made 16 before been well caught by Butt, Mark Bray made a fine 17 before been run out and although Ian Hewson was run out for 13 just before the last over dawned Ryan Adams with a fine 17no and Will Derrick got Wellington over the line and into second place to North Petherton A…

Wellington’s next game in this competition is a local derby with Sampford Arundel on Sunday 11th November at 4.55pm followed by games in December with Staplegrove and North Petherton A.
