Taunton St Andrews 4th XI 243-7 Wellington 3rd XI 166-5
This Somerset League Division Seven South game saw two players suffer leg injuries and good wishes go to young TSA player Rhys Hockey who suffered a serious ankle injury as a result of landing awkwardly in his follow through and badly damaged ligaments… Later in the Wellington innings the Red and Blacks Richard Henwood was hit flush on the foot and had to retire injured; luckily he will be able to see out the season with two games left to play…
In the game Wellington opted to ask TSA to bat first and at 61-3 with wickets taken by Olly Hunt, Andy Hurry and Richard Henwood the Red and Blacks third string were in a good position in the game, but a fine stand for the fourth wicket between Richard Yarde (39) and Josh Thomas (101no – a really classy knock…) of 122 wrested control of the game for the side in second place.
Matt Pringle and Declan German with 15 and 10 respectively gave Thomas a real helping hand, but Wellington fought back to claim seven bowling points all told as skipper Des Campbell took two wickets with the last two balls of the TSA innings… A victim for Nathan Roberts and a second one for Andy Hurry completed the wicket taking and Ryan Henwood’s catch on the run was a most decent effort.
Wellington were 17-2 in reply, but things were steadied by Richard Henwood who made a tidy 25no before he was forced to exit the scene and Des Campbell who hit a most excellent 43 with two sixes in what was a good knock.
Andy Hurry with 52no played a classy knock and with assistance from both Olly Hunt and Ryan Henwood Wellington totalled 166-5 in their 40 overs to take 15 points to TSA’s 30.
