Wellington U13 295 Over Stowey U13 213
Wellington’s middle age group, had a worthwhile journey when they travelled to Over Stowey on Friday evening in the Taunton and District Youth Cricket League.
An improved all round performance saw runs flow freely and a significant reduction in extras whilst in the field meant they were always on top.
Jacob Hurry top scored with the bat on 19 ably supported by Charlie Hawkings with 14 and James Weymouth with 12 and with only 3 wickets falling a total of 295 was posted.
Lucy Hill batted well for her 12, but was unlucky to be undone by the dreaded ‘quadruple bouncer’ which rolled into the stumps.
Oliver Hansard led the bowling figures with 3 for 4 off his 3 overs, Weymouth took 3 for 29, Riley Bowler 2 for 2, Hawkings 2 for 19 whilst there were further wickets for Josh Cashmore and Ned Hillman as ‘Stowey finished on 213, 82 runs adrift.
Wellington will need to show the same level of form when Taunton Deane Tornadoes visit The Rec’ on Friday evening
