Ashbrittle 227 Wellington 113

Wellington had a bad day at the office in the Premier Division of the Somerset League last time out as Ashbrittle again claimed derby bragging rights with this large win at Appley.

Ashbrittle opted to bat first and saw a total of 227 be made that took up all their allotted overs as Grant Davey with 66 was the prime mover with the bat along with Ben Pitkin’s 29 and these knocks were complemented by a flurry of a 48 from Jake Sharland late on.

Sam Whitefield was Wellington’s best offering with the ball as his off spin realised 3-30 in nine good overs with other successes coming the way of Will Derrick, Arron Campbell and Neil Hendy.

A five wicket haul for Alfie Venner-Woodcock was the main feature of the Ashbrittle attack he took 5-21 in nine overs after Tom Chambers and Neil Hendy had got Wellington away to a good 43 run opening stand.

However this was not developed as only Robin Davies and Arron Campbell got into double figures for Wellington after Hendy’s 25.

Ben Pitkin picked up three wickets as Ashbrittle collected a full 35 points and Wellington 15 which means that they are joint second in the table with Taunton Deane 2nd XI with Street at the top of the tree 22 points clear of the Red and Blacks.
