Wellington Sunday XI 236-9 Bridgetown Sunday XI 237-3
Wellington Sunday XI saw that the runs flowed at West Somerset League club Bridgetown last weekend as the home side chased down the total required as everyone got a go in this friendly match that saw all types of weather served up at some point during the day.
Arron Campbell opted to bat first and saw Tyler Fyfe and Macaulay Campbell put on 54 opening wicket runs for Wellington and to this end this was a good start from a new opening partnership.
The home side – through White with four wickets and McDermott and F.Stevens with two apiece – reduced Wellington to 116-7, but a fine knock from skipper Campbell who made a capital 61no with four sixes and his been involved in partnerships that doubled his side’s score from that seventh wicket going down saw that the Red and Blacks had made 236-9 at tea.
Bridgetown attacked the required total from the off and using the short leg side boundary cleared it on occasions as Wookey made a classy ton.
Will Derrick’s bullet throw from long off saw that Hill was run out for 48, but the home side had three figures on the board when this happened.
Wookey batted until the score was 200 and from then Tyler Fyfe took a wicket, but the game was closed out with six overs unused to see a seven wicket home win was recorded.
