Wellington 3rd XI 247-3 North Perrott 3rd XI 153
Wellington 3rd XI are up to second in Division Seven South of the Somerset League following this good 94 run win over their North Perrott counterparts last weekend when acceleration in the last twenty overs and a robust bowling and fielding effort saw maximum points gained from a game that was played at West and Middle Chinnock CC.
Wellington’s third string were put into bat and saw Dave Luxton and Ollie Beale add 88 opening wicket runs in the opening half of the game as Luxton made 38 and Beale made a second half century of the season with 51.
After this skipper Des Campbell with 38 and Richard Henwood with 18no worked well with Thom Trott who made 79no to see that over 150 runs came in overs 21-40.
Trott played elegantly with the cover drive been an important part of his innings.
North Perrott were never really in the hunt for the runs they needed despite Jackson with 30 and A.Bromfield with 37 hitting the ball crisply.
Run outs early on hampered the home side and to this end Wellington always had control of the game as Trott with 3-22 added to his fine game with the ball.
Charlie Burrough took 2-27 in seven good pacy overs and Ollie Beale did well in damp, drizzly conditions that certainly did not help his leg spin.
Wickets for debutante Jonty Ogilvie and Richard Henwood saw that the game was won with six overs to spare for Wellington.
