Wellington Cricket Club held its Annual Sponsors Lunch last weekend and it was another complete success for all concerned writes David Derrick.

Against a backdrop of the 1^st XI’s West of England Premier League Somerset Division match with title contenders Glastonbury some thirty people representing those who generously sponsor the Club and their invited guests enjoyed a quality two course salad lunch that was provided by Amanda Moysey and Sharon Frost.

Represented on the day were the following Companies and their guests

–        Wellington Self Storage Ltd (Rob and Chris Hunt)

–        MMB Cleaning Services Ltd (Mike and Mel Beal)

–        Graham Sparks Furniture (Graham and Debbie Sparks)

–        3D Fire Defence Ltd (Des and Ali Campbell)

–        DCK Garage Services (Dave and Claire Knight)

Club Chairman Duncan Short welcomed all those present and thanked them all for their support which manifests itself in two ways; there is the obvious financial aspect and this allows the Club to develop both on and off the field of play, but there is the physical support too insofar as the Club’s portfolio of sponsors provide tangible items for the Club from coloured playing kit for T20 matches through to tables and chairs that are used at this sort of event to providing the Club with the ability to have a deep clean of the Clubhouse when such is required to make it a pleasant place to be at to offering a place to store bulky Club items when the Club’s own storage space is all in use.

Mr Short noted that a ‘silver thread’ existed with the sponsors who were present and the current playing aspect of the Club as all those present have sons who play for the Club at some level at this time in Ollie Hunt, Jack Beal, Alex Sparks, Arron Campbell and Charlie Knight.

Those sponsors who could not attend were thanked for their input too and it is hoped that these cordial and, in many cases, long standing arrangements will continue into 2017.
