North Perrott Monkeys 114-4 Wellington Warriors 64-9

Wellington Warriors came up against a good all round side in North Perrott Monkeys and they deserved their place in the Final of the Somerset Cricket Board’s Under 19s T20 Blast Finals Day for 2016 as they scored at pace, caught well and bowled accurately.

Wellington asked Perrott to bat first and the game was played in drizzle that then became steady rain and this did not help either side’s cause.

Dom Drew got a wicket in the first over of the Perrott innings, but Wellington did not add to their tally until later on as Desroy with 31 retired and George Retter, who played for Wellington in 2015’s version of this competition, with 30 retired made good knocks.

Arron Campbell, Nick Crossing and Sam Whitefield got amongst the wickets and saw that their side would need 115 to win.

The rapid start was not forthcoming and it was Sam Whitefield with 25 who marshalled the Wellington innings as Perrott did not let the Warriors get a foothold in the game as three wickets each for Ireland and Hammond saw that Wellington ended fifty short in the end and it would be Perrott who would take on reigning champions Taunton Deane Diamonds in the Final.

As it was the Final was postponed due to the weather at the end of the event seeing no play was possible – the game will be re-scheduled.

Wellington’s team on the day was as follows

Arron Campbell (Capt), Jack Beal, Ben Evett (Wkt), Tyler Fyfe, Nick Crossing, Sam Whitefield, Ben Howe, Macaulay Campbell, Lewis Sparks, Dom Drew and Tom Hawkings
