Wembdon Under 13s 94-8 Wellington Under 13s 95-4

Wellington U 13’s came out on top in an exciting run chase when they travelled to Wembdon on Sunday morning in the Taunton and District Youth League.

The Bridgwater hosts opted to make use of the wicket first and a heavy shower just before play meant Wellington had to deal with a wet ball and outfield which made control early very difficult.

Tom Shannon removed 1 opener with a caught and bowled before Hucker and Attwood for the hosts plundered several boundaries leaving the visitors with a thought of a large total to chase.

Young James Weymouth then took another caught and bowled before control was brought by captain Ben Wardell and Ben White who between them reeled off 8 overs bringing 6 wickets and only yielding 12 runs leaving a total of 95 for victory.

Cam Forest perished early in the reply and when Ben Eve followed after looking in good form the total was along way off.

James Drohan failed to trouble the scorers which left Wardell and White again to shore things up, which they did, with White, not for the 1st time this season getting the bulk of the runs.

Although Wardell only scored 2 it was the partnership that brought the target within reach.

Jonty Ogilvie joined White to add some fine blows quickly crossing the ropes 4 times and once White retired when passing 30 Jacob Hurry joined Ogilvie to see the visitors home with nearly 3 overs to spare.

The youngsters have 1 more match next Sunday when they visit Taunton Vale (Sunday 10am).
