Wellington Reds FC, the winter sporting section of Wellington Cricket Club, marked their return to action now that grassroots sport is allowed ref COVID19 with a thumping win in Pool E of the Taunton and District Saturday League’s Spring Competition for 2020-2021 as they put eight unanswered goals past Norton Fitzwarren FC’s second string at Wellington Playing Field’s Pitch Two on Easter Saturday afternoon, 3rd April, as goals from Ashley Grist (3), Aaron Sellick (2) and one apiece from Jack Bryant, Luke Maunder and Tom Hawkings sealed the deal.
Connor Sellick’s charges are away to Old Inn 98 FC on Saturday 10th April in their second Pool E game and that kicks off at 2.30pm next weekend.
The team’s second round opposition in the League’s Seward Cup should be known soon as Norton Fitzwarren’s First Team were due to meet Bridgwater and Albion FC’s Firsts on the evening of Wednesday 7th April at Bridgwater Academy’s 3G facility.
