WEPL Update: COVID-19
To all WEPL clubs
Following the ECB’s announcement regarding the suspension of all recreational cricket activity, the WEPL Board understands both the disappointment and potential hardship that this will cause our member clubs.
However, the current spread of the virus is unprecedented, and we firmly endorse the action taken by our national governing body.
At this juncture, we can confirm the following:
1, The pre-season meetings on April 21st and April 22nd will be cancelled.
2. We will not be asking clubs to pay their £60 Affiliation fee for the 2020 season. nor their £50 advance payment for Dinner Tickets
3. The WEPL T20 Competition for 2020 season will be cancelled.
4. In respect of Overseas Players – The Government advises UK citizens against non-essential travel anywhere in the world until further notice. For any club with questions or concerns about currently contracted Overseas Players they should speak to the Agent, their legal representative and their committee before deciding on the next course of action.
We will ensure contact with our member clubs over the coming weeks and months so that everyone is aware of the current situation.
Working with both the ECB and the County Boards, we will do our best to find ways to support our clubs during this extremely difficult time.
Cricket will return and will come back stronger than ever, playing a massive part in lifting everybody’s spirits.
Stay safe
