Wellington U11 Reds 281-4 Taunton Deane Typhoons U11 225-12

Wellington U11 Reds got back to winning ways on Sunday morning with a 56 run victory over Taunton Deane Typhoons which was played at the home of Wombats CC in Bishops Lydeard.

Having been inserted under bright skies Wellington found things tough as William Lyon-Taylor and Charlie Crossley were given nothing to work with from tight bowling and 4 wickets in as many overs kept the runs in check.

Jonah Richardson and Oliver Hutchings were next in and a boundary apiece helped in adding 27 runs in their 4 overs.

Atticus Adams and Oscar Milton were the 3rd visiting pair to bat and quick running and no further wicket loss meant the total had reached 244 by the time the last pair of Will Crossley and skipper Thomas Gendall reached the crease.

They added impetus as 4 more boundaries contributed to adding 37 runs in the last 4 overs leaving The Deane with a score of 282 for victory.

Adams and Charlie Crossley took the new ball, and some hostile bowling put the hosts on the back foot as 5 wickets in the first 3 overs left an uphill task.

From this moment on Wellington always held the upper hand as another 7 wickets were shared around, meaning a 56 run victory was no more than the visitors deserved.

Adams finished up with 4 wickets, Charlie Crossley 3, Lyon-Taylor 2 and Gendall, Hutchings and Richardson 1 apiece, but the general fielding contributed to this excellent victory as did good running and team spirit.
