Press Release – Senior Section Pre-Season Training 2016

Wellington Cricket Club has recently unveiled its pre-season senior training plans for 2016 and they have an ambitious and professional ring to them as the Club prepares to start life in the Somerset Division of the new look West of England Premier League.

In what amounts to a statement of intent for the new campaign the Red and Blacks have engaged with Somerset CCC’s Coach Peter Sanderson, who is an ECB Level Four High Performance Coach at this time, to deliver coaching sessions for all members of the senior section both prior to and during the season.

Starting on Wednesday 24th February at Court Fields School’s Sports Hall from 7.30pm until 9.00pm indoor sessions will run up to and including Wednesday 6th April after when sessions will move outdoors and will take place at Wellington Playing Field.

These sessions will not only improve the technical competencies of players attending, but will deliver better focus in respect of the mental approach to the game whilst encouraging superior fitness too.

To unveil this exciting strategy and it component parts amongst other items a Players Meeting and Social Evening is to take place at the Club’s Clubhouse at Wellington Playing Field on Saturday 20th February from 7.00pm.

All existing and any new players are very welcome to attend both the Players Meeting/Social Evening strand and then the training sessions that follow leading to being part of an exciting 2016 season for the Club in what is its 70th season since reformation.
