Membership fees have been relatively stable for a number of years. In order to fund development in the club, we are looking to change our subscription fees and make use of our Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) status to bring in more money without any additional cost to members.
As a CASC, we can claim Gift Aid on donations from UK tax payers who have signed an appropriate form. As an example, this makes a £20 donation worth £25 to the club.
Donations can take various forms and we are looking at ways we can make use of it to help fund the changes that you have no doubt noticed happening to the club.
For 2011 we will be trialling a change to our membership fees that we hope will be supported.
Fees will be as follows:
Senior players: £10
Junior players: £20 (includes all junior match fees)
Social members: £5
We will also be asking senior player over 18 to make a voluntary donation of £20 and to sign a Gift Aid form if they are eligible. This donation is optional and will not affect membership in any way.
We hope players will support the club and see the extra value which can be used to improve facilities available to all. In 2010 senior membership was £30, in 2011 a senior player paying their £10 membership fee, and donating £20 will pay the same as 2010, but the club will receive £5 more through the Gift Aid scheme.
Multiply this extra £5 by the number of senior members we have and the club could make an extra £200 a year to be used to improve the club and its facilities.
You can download and print off membership forms and Gift Aid declarations from the Forms and Documents page of the WCC web site.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please speak to Adrian Lee or Marc Holloway.

Running Club
A fun way for us to get fit for the season.
Get a group of people together who want to run the streets of Wellington on an evening during late March and early April.
Mark “Forrest Gump” Salter knows some good routes! I have spoken to a fitness instructor at the Princess Royal and he is happy for us to attend circuit training as a group as well.
This year is an important year for the club as the new bar and focus on the ground comes true; however lets not change the Club’s stance towards cricket which has always been to play the highest level possible.
The 2nd XI are newly promoted and will be a hard season and the 1st XI really need to show consistency to get promoted.
All the of the above aims to move us forward.

Following the Management Committee meeting held on Wednesday 29th September Steve Symons has been appointed as Fixture Secretary Designate with a view to assuming the role in a full capacity at the 2011 AGM.
To this end Steve will be working on all aspects of fixtures – obtaining fixtures as required and managing fixtures received for example – during the close season with current post holder David Derrick.
The rationale behind the move is to allow David to concentrate on his role as Club Secretary and the roles he has taken on this year that are external to the Club; such as those with the Somerset League, the Taunton and District Sunday League and the Baker Cup.
Everyone wishes Steve well as he settles into a new role and he can count on the support of all associated with the Club.

Wellington Midweek XI completed their 2010 season with this 51 run win over old friends The Journeymen last Monday when a polished all-round team performance saw Marc Holloway’s side home.
The London based tourists asked Wellington to bat first and a fierce opening burst and a wicket from Hayes saw that The Journeymen started well.
Aks Latifi and Marc Holloway added exactly fifty for the second wicket with Latifi playing the power game and Holloway working the ball around the ground well, but both were dismissed with the score on 67 when Latifi was caught at mid off for 33 and Holloway was caught low down in the next over for 22.
Wellington needed to regroup and Paul Short and Michael Gill did so with a 70 run opening stand for the fourth wicket – Short did as his skipper had and worked the ball around the field well and Gill played a good knock too with great running between the wicket coming from the South African – they made 37 and 34 respectively before falling to more good Journeymen catching.
Rob Moysey with 31, Simon Rudd with 15 and an unbeaten sixteen run ninth wicket effort by Chris Rudd and Richard Short saw Wellington to 218-8 at tea with Dixon’s 3-34 been the best offering with the ball from The Journeymen.
Journeymen skipper N.Bloch and Keenlyside added 58 opening wicket runs and they found Wellington not at their best in the field as too many singles were leaked and with these runs taking only 13 overs to compile The Journeymen had a good chance of victory, but the desire of Bloch to get the quick single at every opportunity was the undoing of this partnership as Marc Holloway threw down the stumps at the striker’s end to remove Keenlyside for 19.
Thirty-eight runs came for The Journeymen’s second wicket, but the run rate had dropped and overs were used up and the required rate was getting higher and higher and the introduction of Paul Short and Rob Moysey saw things swing decisively in Wellington’s favour as Short took 1-22 in 7 good overs of off spin and Moysey took his sixth five wicket bag of the season as a magical spell of 5-16 saw the back of the cream of The Journeymen’s line up – with Aks Latifi keeping wicket well once more the job was nearly done.
Simon Rudd and Marc Holloway got a wicket each and Dixon (22no) and Chalke (6no) saw the overs out for The Journeymen and thus denied Wellington all ten of the tourists wickets.

Wellington Midweek XI were squeezed out right at the very end of their evening match with Birmingham tourists Harborne last Monday evening when a 62 run eighth wicket stand between Land and Arnold got the visitors over the line with an over to go.
Wellington batted first in poor light and with drizzle falling this did not help the situation, but Thom Trott and James Bath added 28 runs up top with Trott hitting the ball very cleanly to leg as he made 21; Bath played the ball crisply along the deck for 12.
Alex Sparks timed the ball very well along the ground for 20 before been well caught at slip and with Sam Murdock and Paul Short getting some good middle order runs at 79-4 Wellington were hopeful of another fifty or so, but with finger spinner Ahmed getting three wickets in one over on his way to 4-10 in 3 he saw Wellington slide to 81-7; however Marc Holloway with 25no and Aaron Chugg added an unbroken 36 runs for the ninth wicket to boost Wellington to 125-8 in 20 overs.
Wellington bowled very well first up as Ross Brayley and Aaron Chugg saw the Harborne openers off and then Alex Sparks and Richard Short with a three wicket burst had the Birmingham City League club at 51-7 and on the slide.
However Land with 32 and Arnold with 33no had other ideas and both hit the ball very cleanly and swung the balance of the game back towards Harborne, Marc Holloway got an eighth wicket for his side, but Harborne claimed victory with an over to spare.
Wellington Midweek XI entertain old friends The Journeymen on Monday from 2.30pm.
