Archive for the ‘Ground Works’ CategoryA BIG thank you to everyone who gave of their time this weekend to prep the ground for the new season; it looks really good and we now start the real business with matches at Ashbrittle and Bagborough next weekend.
There will be some more minor works needed before we start our new home season on Saturday 27th April (Sunday XI v Bridgwater in the Sunday League) and Simon Rudd will be issuing details and requirements in due course.
Cricket Force 2013 – FINAL CALLFriday, April 5th, 2013Following Adrian’s email earlier this week re Cricket Force, please find below a list of items we would like to be brought; if you have any of these, please bring them along. Duncan would also like to add that we are about to enter what will probably be the most difficult 3 months for WCC – new higher leagues, a 3rd team and no home until July – it is a time to pull together and help out wherever and whenever you can – please make an extra effort to help the club get to July with as little disruption as possible. Wheelbarrow Kind Regards, Cricket Force 2013Tuesday, April 2nd, 2013Wellington Playing Field Pavilion – Deconstruction WorkSunday, November 25th, 2012A big thank you to all who took part in the clearing out of Wellington Playing Field Pavilion and the scorebox today with Simon Rudd leading the operation from the outside and Amanda Moysey from the inside. Due to the excellent number in attendance we got this work done in under four hours and still had time for a buffet lunch provided by Chris Rudd (big thank you to Chris for that). We now await the work to start on our new facility. Wellington Playing Field Pavilion Development Work – Clear Out of WCC Club RoomSunday, November 4th, 2012Natwest Cricket Force 2013Sunday, November 4th, 2012Goodbye Long Hop – Hello The Future!Tuesday, October 23rd, 2012It has come to pass that last Saturday’s event at The Long Hop was the last one with the facility in the current form. We have to move out of our present base in time for pre building works to begin on Monday 19th November. To this end we need a working party of a dozen or so people to be available to deconstruct the bar and score box area on Sunday 11th November – Simon Rudd will be coordinating this work and if you can lend a hand then please contact Simon on 0782 813 3223. We are going to be receiving a shipping container to store our belongings in that will stay on site during the period of the work, so we can still access all our kit for training sessions and match days in 2013 when we will play the first half of the season without the new facility being available to us – certainly on a full basis. Please give up a few hours to assist with this task. Risk Assessment and Facilities GradingFriday, April 20th, 2012A working party of Simon Spalding, Richard Short and David Derrick will be performing a two part assessment of our ground and facilities – the risk assessment is required for Club Mark and the facilities grading is part of the SCL’s quality driven process to improve what is on offer at their member Clubs grounds according to four key principles. The site visit will take place on Tuesday 1st May at 7.15pm Cricket Force 2012Sunday, April 1st, 2012Thanks to everyone who gave up their time over this weekend to prepare the Club for the new season; the ground and the clubhouse both look sparkling and we are truly ready for action. We start at Trull on Saturday 14th April with a game that will be played under the Sunday XI banner; the day after we visit Taunton Deane.
