Junior Coaching Arrangements for 2012Tuesday, March 27th, 2012Our junior section start their outdoor training sessions in the week commencing Monday 23rd April; the Under 11s and Under 13s will train at the same time, although separately on Tuesday evenings starting at 6.00pm on Tuesday 24th April with Mark Salter managing the 11s and Paul Rowlandson the 13s. The Under 15s start their training on Thursday 26th April at 6.00pm and Des Campbell will be in charge here. The first training session will act as a signing on session and the fee is £20 per child and this covers all training and matches and gives parents/guardians/carers two social memberships of the Club. Contact Junior Section Secretary Richard Short for details ahead of this important set of dates. Fixtures for all three sides begin on Friday 4th May (Under 11s) and Sunday 6th May (Under 13s and Under 15s). District Selection for WCC YouthSaturday, February 18th, 2012Both Joe Horne and Michael Ellacott have been successful in making it through the District Trials for their respective age groups during February. Congratulations go to both players and to all of our youth who were involved at this level. Mark Salter – Level One CoachSaturday, February 4th, 2012I am delighted to be able to announce that Mark Salter is now a fully qualified UKCC Level One coach following his participation and success in a four session course over the third and fourth weekends in January. Mark will bring his newly acquired skills and techniques to the Club in general and in particular to the Under 11s which is the side that he manages. We now have five qualified coaches in the Club with Mark, Richard Short, Martin Ellacott, Les Reed and Paul Short all able to act in this respect. Our young coaches James Bath, George Hooper and Sam Murdock are going to be undergoing similar as part of their college studies; thus further strengthening our coaching capacity going forward. Junior Section 2012Wednesday, January 25th, 2012We welcome Paul Rowlandson and Des Campbell to the Club as Youth Section Managers for the 2012 season; Paul will manage the Under 13s side and Des the Under 15s continuing the excellent work that Martin Ellacott and Richard Short have done in recent seasons. There are eight more sessions available between Friday 27th January and Friday 23rd March (allowing for a week off for half term on Friday 17th February). Focus Club status is also in the Club’s sights in 2012. We wish Mark every success in his course. WCC Safe Hands Development Group – Policy Papers for 2012Friday, November 25th, 2011The work of the Club’s Development Sub Committee in respect of developing a suite of Policy Papers from the ECB’s Safe Hands Kit Bag is now complete and the papers will be published to this site very soon. A process of cascading this information throughout the Club starts now and will be completed by the end of the 2011-2012 close season. WCC Winter Youth Coaching Project 2012Sunday, October 9th, 2011Our Vice Chairman and Development Officer Simon Spalding has announced that the Club has been awarded a grant from Wellington Town Council to run a third winter’s youth coaching programme at Court Fields Community School. We will commence ten weeks of youth coaching and player development on Friday 13th January with a week off for the February half term. Simon will convene a meeting of the required personnel to bring all that is required together before Christmas. Wellington CC Junior Cricket Trial Nominations 2011-2012Tuesday, August 30th, 2011The following WCC youth players have been nominated for the Somerset Cricket Board District Junior Trials for 2011-2012; Under 11s – Joe Horne, Jack Derrick and Josh Hawkings Under 12s – Callum Vernon Under 14s – Michael Ellacott We wish them all well with their trials. George Hooper and Sam Murdock who have been accepted on to the SCCC Academy in conjunction with Richard Huish College and James Bath has been accepted on to the Exeter RFC Academy; James will study in Exeter. We wish our older youth players every success too. |
