Wellington 142-6 Westlands 143-2
Wellington are left with work to do in their quest for safety in Division One of the Somerset League after this eight wicket defeat away to Westlands last weekend.
The Red and Blacks were asked to bat first in a match played at Compton House CC as Westlands own ground was in use for another event and found run scoring hard against a tight opening spell from Boucher (0-28 in 12 overs) and Higgins (2-22 in 12 overs).
Four of the top Wellington five got into double figures, but it was hard work for the whole of the 45 overs as the run rate just topped three an over.
Mark Salter with 11 and Paul Short with 17 got things going for Wellington.
Alex Sparks with 26 and Marc Holloway with 36 counter attacked, but the home side were still not giving much away as Reeves with 2-22 in 7 overs shows.
Richard Henwood – playing for the first time in a month – made a fine 38no later for Wellington as 142-6 was the tea time score.
Westlands won with time and overs to spare as Boucher continued his fine match with 77no and other solid contributions from those who batted with him made for a win that was sealed with 17.3 overs to spare.
Wellington’s successful bowlers were Adrian Lee and Aaron Chugg.
Next up are Purnells at Courtland Road on Saturday.
