Club Development Planning 2012

Our Development Administration team of Simon Spalding, Ivor Mitchell and David Derrick will be meeting in March to perform the required Annual Health Check on our Club Mark award and to review the Club Development Plan for the new season.

Curry Night (in conjunction with The Taste of Spice Restaurant of Wiveliscombe)

We are having a Curry Night in conjunction with The Taste of Spice Restaurant of Wiveliscombe at The Long Hop Bar on Friday 6th April (Good Friday) and we can cater for thirty people; names are being accepted from now on a first come, first served basis.

District Selection for WCC Youth

Both Joe Horne and Michael Ellacott have been successful in making it through the District Trials for their respective age groups during February.

Congratulations go to both players and to all of our youth who were involved at this level.

Poker Night

A successful Poker Night was held at The Long Hop on Saturday 11th February when Rob Moysey took the honours on the main table from Julian Jones and Nick Fenn from The Dolphin Inn.

Roly Phillips from The Dolphin Inn took the ‘plate’ prize on the other table.

Thanks to Simon Rudd for organising the event, to Amanda Moysey and Sharon Jones for doing bar and to all who took part in what was a fun event.

Spring Ground Works

Today the square has been cut for the third time this close season and the depressions caused by football training have received a treatment of soil and grass seed with turf to be applied if required before the season begins.

Another session is planned for March.

Pre Season Training 2012

We commence pre-season training at Court Fields Community School’s Sports Hall on Wednesday 29th February until Wednesday 11th April.

These sessions will be evening based ones running from 7.00pm – 8.30pm and more details are available from Club Captain Paul Short.

WCC Past Players Association

Saturday, February 11th, 2012

This morning the initial meeting to form the Wellington CC Past Players Association took place; those taking charge of setting up this item are Matt Colman and Chris Rudd with assistance from David Derrick who will act as the link between the PPA and the Club’s Management Committee.

A proposed constitution and mission statement were reviewed and changes proposed.

A further meeting will take place in March to bring all matters together and to set the Association up formally.

It is proposed that Keith Colman will act as President of the Association, Matt Colman as Secretary and Chris Rudd as Treasurer.

Poker Night – Last Call and Groundworks on Sunday 12th February

Couple of forthcoming activities below – please support if you can….

1. We have a small amount of work on the square and outfield required on Sunday (12th Feb), just 2hrs, 11am to 1pm. Please come along and lend a hand. Nothing too difficult – mowing wicket, forking and repair to outfield, application of loam to the depression with lute.

2. Poker Night is on Saturday 11th February; four spaces left currently (e-mail Simon Rudd if you wish to take part). Long Hop opens at 7.00pm and first deal is at 8.00pm
