Rackenford 118-2 Wellington 104
Rackenford have a sixteen point lead over Wellington in the Cougar Indoor League following their 14 run win over the Red and Blacks last weekend in the meeting of the top two.
Wellington conceded more extras than they would have wished to as they leaked more runs than in any other game so far this winter season with Rackenford making 118-2 in 10 overs.
Neil Hendy got the two wickets to fall as he got the new ball to swing and got an LBW and a man bowled for his efforts, but that was all the success that was forthcoming to Wellington with the ball.
A good start was necessary, but a wicket was lost second ball; Paul Short and Aks Latifi reacted well as Short glided the ball around the arena well and Latifi played well off the walls and both retired and so were able to come back.
Kevin Crout – making a first Cougar indoor appearance – did good work too with the bat for Wellington, but the rate was always a little too high and despite the efforts of Short (33) and Latifi (36) Wellington were all out in the last over 15 short of victory.
The team has one game left before Christmas and will play Bridgwater Sports on Sunday 12th December at 3.30pm.
The Club hosts its seasonal Sports Quiz on the same date from 7.30pm and applications for teams to enter are now closed.
