The Midweek XI has lost a match from it’s schedule next month as Surrey side St Andrews CC are unable to tour due to lack of viable numbers.
Therefore for the rest of the 2010 season we have 20/20 at Ashbrittle on Thursday 1st July, the same format with Birmingham tourists Harborne CC on Monday 19th July and then old friends The Journeymen on Monday 26th July from 2.30pm and Nynehead the evening after that for 20/20.
Friday 13th August sees Norfolk side Spar Ramblers visit us for the first time from 2.00pm.
Contact team skipper Marc Holloway for details.

Wellington Sunday XI maintained their unbeaten record in Division B of the Taunton and District Sunday League with this exciting tie against top side Taunton St Andrews at home last weekend, as the county town side also maintained their unbeaten start to this season, but have played a game more than Wellington and as they do not play again in the league until August Wellington have a great chance to work on the 22 point lead St Andrews have on them in the two games available before TSA resume their programme.
Rob Moysey captained the side on the day and he was asked to bat by TSA in a match reduced to 35 overs per side to allow the sides to watch the England v Germany World Cup football match.
TSA opening bowlers Chandler and Clatworthy each bowled a menacing spell of six overs as they gave little away and got the ball to do much off the seam and in the air – Clatworthy produced an absolute brute of a ball to get Moysey as he was caught behind by the excellent J.Poole, but Michael Gill held firm and saw off the new ball pairing.
Jake Nichol did all the hard work in a new batting position to him of number three and hit a couple of good fours before he looped one up off Dimond and was caught in the covers; Patrick Jarman swept for two fours, but he too looped one up and was caught and at 44-3 Wellington were in need of some consolidation.
Aks Latifi blew the TSA attack away as he crashed 91 with five more maxima and he is closing in on the Club six hit record all the time; he played with silky smooth precision along the ground and effortlessly lifted the ball over the boundary – he was out to left arm spinner Baldock going for his shots.
Michael Gill with 59 was last out, by which time Wellington had reached full batting points and a declaration.
When Ayshford square cut one to Michael Gill at point off of Jake Nichol Wellington had a first breakthrough, but TSA skipper L.Poole with 38 and J.Poole with 53 added 77 for the second wicket and this gave the Taunton side a base to go on from, but Wellington kept going in the field as they countered some loose bowling with tight stuff too and when Nichol had J.Poole caught behind by Aks Latifi and Patrick Jarman bowled L.Poole Wellington had TSA at 99-3 with around 100 runs to play with.
Alex Troake induced a false stroke out of Dimond who was caught by Rob Moysey at mid off as he got frustrated and next ball Troake found himself on a hat-trick.
At 120-5 Taunton St Andrews had work to do, but with Wyatt and Clatworthy both playing well they took their side to the brink of victory with the score nudging into the 190s – Rob Moysey brought himself into the attack and in 16 balls he took 5-3 to dismantle the visitors lower order as he used all of his leg spinning box of tricks to undo the Saints.
With stumpings and players been bowled the Wellington skipper on the day had pulled a masterstroke off as St Andrews did all the hard work by getting to 203 and needing just one more to win the game they were all out with 14 balls left to leave them somewhat shellshocked.
Mention also goes to 13 year old Chris Shapland who bowled three good overs of left arm seam, having played for the Under 15s in the morning he now had a senior debut to remember and all who played will remember this one for a while.
Grateful thanks go to Amanda Moysey for all her hard and excellent work in managing the catering arrangements for this match.

Wellington 2nd XI put their hiccup at Frome the week before behind them as they recorded a 67 run home win over Purnells in Division Two of the Somerset League’s Reserves competition last weekend to keep them second, a single point behind Frome who thrashed Wedmore on their own patch.
Simon Rudd opted to bat first and saw his side rocking a little at 16-2, but a superlative knock of 110 from Mark Salter was the cornerstone of the side’s big total as he batted for some 40 overs and hit fifteen fours.
Richard Henwood confirmed a return to full fitness with a fine knock of 33 and Tom Baycock with 25 added further excellent runs in the middle order with Liam Kubicki doing likewise with 10.
Rudd cracked 44no and by the time George Coate was out on the last ball of the Wellington innings the Red and Blacks had 256-7 in the bank.
Purnells never truly threatened the 257 needed as Wellington collected wickets at regular intervals – Ross Brayley and Tom Baycock saw the back of the Purnells top three and the plan was to keep striving and breakthroughs would come and they did with George Coate claiming 2-30 and Simon Rudd completing the job with 4-30.
For Purnells Lock with 42 and Minall with 35 batted well, but there were just too many runs on the board to chase all the way.
Wellington took 35 points and Purnells 16.

Wellington remain fifth in Division One of the Somerset League, but have seen sides close the gap on them to now be part of a real squeeze in mid table following this disappointing nine wicket defeat on the road at Purnells last weekend.
Choosing to bat first saw Wellington never truly master the Paulton based side’s pitch and they were 40-5 in 17 overs with only Paul Short of the top five getting into double figures.
A gritty and vital sixth wicket stand of 51 between Rob Moysey and James Bath was the highlight of Wellington’s time with the bat as they held up the Purnells attack – Tucker with 4-36 in 12 overs was excellent.
Moysey held firm for 17 and Bath made a great 26 that saw him never be fearful of hitting over the top – the stand occupied some 22 overs, but was over in the space of two overs as Moysey was trapped LBW by Crocker (1-31 in 11 overs) and Bath was run out having hit the ball well, but straight to Tucker who spread himself to stop the ball and by this time Bath had committed himself to the run and he was out of his ground and not able to get back – a sad end to a fine innings from the teenager.
Richard Short hit a pleasant 15no, but Wellington were all out for 121 in 41.4 overs.
Purnells set about the 122 needed and got there in just eighteen overs as Chard with 41 and Crocker with 56no hit the ball long and handsomely and Redwood with 17no completed the job.
Wellington dropped four catches as Paul Short took the only wicket for Wellington who took seven points to Purnells 35.

To allow for players of both sides to take in the England v Germany World Cup match we will be starting as close to 1.00pm as possible (allowing for the Under 15s match to end).
The plan is to play for two hours, watch the game and then resume matters, tea will be flexible and the game will then be played to a finish albeit later than normal, but with good weather and long daylight hours forecast and available on the day we can adopt this format.
Paul Short will be advising players of this change and all who are selected are asked to be at the ground in good time for a prompt start – this benefits everyone.
Thanks in advance.
