Indoor Cricket – Wellington School Event – Sunday 17th January until Sunday 11th AprilTuesday, January 5th, 2010The fixtures for the Wellington School based indoor cricket league have been received and have given us the following matches,

Indoor Cricket – SCCC Event – Sunday 10th JanuaryTuesday, January 5th, 2010The SCCC Indoor event which sees us play Sampford Arundel CC in the Somerset section of the National Indoor competition takes place this Sunday afternoon at 4.30pm. The winners of this game will play Bridgwater CC in the county final at 6.00pm on the same day and the winners of this second game will be Somerset’s representatives going forward. Management Committee Meeting – Wednesday 13th JanuaryFriday, January 1st, 2010The next Management Committee meeting will be held at The Arts Centre, Eight Acre Lane, Wellington on Wednesday 13th January from 7.30pm. This will be the last meeting before the AGM, so if everyone could attend that would be most useful. Any apologies via the usual channels please. Somerset Cricket League Averages 2009 – 2nd XIFriday, January 1st, 2010The SCL averages for 2009 have been released and here is a short review of how the 2nd XI performed in relation to the other Clubs who we competed against. Qualifications adopted by the SCL are as follows – batting 6 inns min with a min average of 10.00, bowling 6 wkts min. Six players made the overall batting averages – Richard Henwood with 278 runs at 39.71, Trevor Brooks (366 at 33.27), Kevin Crout (326 at 25.08), Graham Sparks (144 at 18.00), Richard Short (151 at 15.10) and George Coate (100 at 11.11). In the bowling averages we have five representatives – Adrian Lee (20 at 11.15), Richard Short (9 at 15.44), George Coate (11 at 18.09), Jake Nichol (11 at 30.36) and Martin Short (7 at 39.57). It should be noted that not all teams submitted an averages return for 2009, so these statistics cannot be considered complete – Glastonbury 3rd XI and Wembdon 2nd XI in this case. Somerset Cricket League Averages 2009 – 1st XIFriday, January 1st, 2010The SCL averages for 2009 have been released and here is a short review of how the 1st XI performed in relation to the other Clubs who we competed against. Qualifications adopted by the SCL are as follows – batting 6 inns min with a min average of 10.00, bowling 6 wkts min. Max Capaldi is our highest representative in the 1st XI Division One batting statistics in attaining 21st place with 177 runs at 29.50, Alex Sparks and Rob Moysey are one and two places after Max respectivley with 403 runs at 26.87 and 294 runs at 26.73 Paul Short is our next representative with 289 runs at 20.64. Marc Holloway with 236 runs at 19.67 and Richard Henwood with 93 runs at 18.60 feature as does Mark Salter with 269 runs at 17.93 Alec Short (91 at 13.00), Adrian Lee (38 at 12.67), Thom Trott (149 at 11.46), James Brown (54 at 10.80) and last season’s overseas player Rowan Varkevisser (71 at 10.14) complete our involvement here. Paul Short with 40 wickets at 15.13 gives him ninth place in the bowling awards with Adrian Lee (7 at 15.71) and Rowan Varkevisser (31 at 16.29) close behind. Max Capaldi with 13 at 16.85, Rob Moysey (9 at 21.33) and James Brown (9 at 23.33) are our other representatives at this level. It should be noted that not all teams submitted an averages return for 2009, so these statistics cannot be considered complete - Purnell 1st XI in this case. |
