Good Friday ground works

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

Please remember to come along to the ground tomorrow (Good Friday) to help get everything ready for the new season.

There are the nets to set up, some general tidying up round the scorebox and pavilion and we want to get some people working on the covers to get them into shape.

Please also bring completed membership forms which you should have received via email and membership fees if you have not already paid.

See you at the ground at 9:30am!

Covers Project

Monday, April 6th, 2009

The first of the Club’s four metal pitch covers is very nearly fully painted and this afternoon work started on de-rusting a second cover. This work will continue this week (weather permitting) with a big effort taking place on Good Friday. Please contact Steve Symons for details of the work that is required and when you can join in the working party.

Enhanced CRB Checks – ‘Final Word’

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

Following discussions between the Welfare and Protection Officer, Secretary and the County Board it has been decided that those who are to only play this coming season and will not hold a specific management role at either senior or junior level need not apply for the enhanced CRB check.

It has come to pass that applying for the check based on the position being applied for being ‘player’ will not be accepted at the CRB and will thus lead to rejected paperwork. The Club does not wish to waste the time of it’s members or the verifiers who sign off the application before it is sent to the CRB. Therefore the application process for those who fall into this category needs to be stopped from now.

All those who do hold a specific mangement role (captains, managers, coaches etc) need to apply, complete, attend a verification interview and return the form as the system demands.

The Management Committee will debate this matter fully when it meets on Wednesday 8th April and the Welfare and Protection Officer will speak on Good Friday. If you have any queries on this matter please contact either the Welfare and Protection Officer or the Secretary in the first instance.

CRB Checks – Update

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

Recently it has come to the attention of the Welfare and Protection Officer and the Secretary that those aged eighteen and over who do not hold specific managerial responsibility within the Club may have encountered issues with their CRB application in terms of the position being applied for. A position of ‘Player’ is not specific enough for the CRB and may lead to applications being rejected. Therefore – whilst this matter is deliberated at Management Committee Level and with the County Board – all those aged eighteen and over should still continue to apply for, complete and process the CRB form and await further advice that will be posted on this site. The Club’s policy is that it is desirable for all aged eighteen and over to hold an enhanced CRB certificate and to be aware of the potential dangers of not holding such, particularly should a welfare and protection issue arise. The Club can’t compel any personnel to hold such, but if any individual does not wish to enter into the process then the Welfare and Protection Officer and the Secretary MUST be made aware of this fact explicitly – otherwise it will be assumed that such certificates will be available on request.
