Wellington 139-1 – Butterleigh 127-5
Another effective batting performance from Wellington was the cornerstone of this twelve run win over the team from near Honiton. All of the top four reached retirement in good time.
Skipper Thom Trott led the way with some crisply hit straight drives and there were good runs from Marc Holloway as well.
First game batting stars Stuart Currall and Alex Sparks made more telling contributions as well.John Paine and Adrian Lee joined in as well to see that Wellington made 139-1 in 12 overs.
Butterleigh’s only success was the run out of Paine for 13.
Thom Trott was Wellington’s best bowler as he bowled true and straight to trap Coles LBW and dismiss Lewis with a catch off of his own bowling.
Schofield and Hall with 27 and 29 respectively bolstered the Butterleigh batting effort, but they were always behind the clock. Marc Holloway claimed a wicket when Thom Trott held on to a chance on the back wall and although Clayton resisted and denied Wellington full points, another nineteen points were most useful for the Red and Blacks. These were two good wins for Wellington and they have started this new indoor season well and will be looking for some tangible results as the season develops.
