Club Wish Lists

All WDSF member Clubs are asked to submit their wish lists of facilities to Federation Secretary David Derrick by Tuesday 15th March.

Such information will be packaged up and submitted to the local authority in respect of the work that the Federation’s working party on developing Wellington Playing Fields and Wellington Recreation Ground is currently doing.

An e-mail to this effect will be issued by the end of the week.

Working Party on Developing Wellington Playing Field and Wellington Recreation Ground

The second meeting of this working party met at Wellington AFC this evening and was joined by Ann Rhodes and Debbie Arscott of Taunton Deane Borough Council; they provided guidance, advice and background to the matters surrounding the finance attached to the first phase of the Cade’s Farm house building project – finance it is hoped will be directed towards improving pitch provision and changing facilities at Wellington Playing Field and Wellington Recreation Ground.

Minutes from this meeting will be circulated by the end of the week with the next meeting set for Tuesday 29th March at Wellington Cricket Club from 7.30pm; an agenda will be issued in due course.

Another New Member!

Wellington Wheelers Cycling Club has joined WDSF and makes our membership now sixteen strong.

I am delighted to be able to announce that the Federation has been able to recruit a fourth Patron to support, develop and advise on our activities going forward.

Richard Fox has accepted the Federation Executive’s offer and joins Martin Pipe CBE, Jeremy Browne MP and Cllr Andrew Govier in this role.

Wellington Swimming Club

Fourteen members soon became fifteen as Wellington Swimming Club joined the Federation – again we warmly welcome them.

Wellington Bowmen

Wellington Bowmen have joined the Wellington and District Sports Federation.

They are the fourteenth Club to do so since January’s AGM; they are warmly welcomed on board.

Wellington Playing Field and Recreation Ground Development Working Party Meeting – CHANGE OF VENUE

As building work has begun at Wellington Cricket Club the venue for this meeting has been altered; we will now meet at Wellington AFC’s clubhouse.

The meeting is still on Tuesday 22nd February from 7.00pm

Wellington Playing Field and Recreation Ground Development Working Party

It is announced that we will be joined by two representatives from Taunton Deane Borough Council at our second meeting in this respect on Tuesday 22nd February from 7pm.

Ann Rhodes and Debbie Arscott will be attending the meeting at Wellington Cricket Club to offer the benefit of their professional knowledge and offer advice to the stakeholder Clubs and the Federation Executive on the best way to proceed with our plans.

With Federation Patron and Town Mayor Cllr Andrew Govier also advising us on this project we will be in a great position to move forward.
